Swimming at Hoot Lake

5-24
Tuesday afternoon was a great time to head down to Hoot Lake to swim. The six of us and Grandpa spend an hour or two down by the water. It was great!

Daddy even jumped into the water after this picture!
I didn't put a swim diaper on Molly so she was stuck wearing her regular diaper in the water. Holy smokes those things can hold a LOT of liquid!! She had a cute bubble butt by the time we were done swimming. The diaper probably weighed 9 pounds!

Baby's first swim in the lake. She pulled her feet up out of the water but she didn't cry. The water was pretty nice considering how early it was.

We spent quite a bit of time on Grandma's patio enjoying the weather when it was nice and the cover and fan when it was too hot. Breakfast coffee and late night visits and everything in between. A lot of quality time was spent on the front and back porch and we wouldn't have it any other way. So great!!!

Matt, Charlie, Alanna, and Grandpa went out fishing at Ten Mile on Monday afternoon. They caught memories and sunshine but I'm not sure what else. Grandpa took a bit of time off in the afternoon so they hit the water. The little girls, Grandma, and I held down the fort. Matt and I went to Grace's orchestra concert that evening. She plays the violin and it was fun to hear her play. It was a good concert and even more enjoyable just attending and not corralling little children since the kids stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa.

On Tuesday morning, we met Grandma at City Bakery, a favorite stop of hers. She takes the other grandkids there quite a bit so we called her up to see if she could swing down and meet us for a morning donut. Alanna picked the most colorful one in the display case, Molly picked one with sprinkles, and Charlie picked one with a plastic baseball ring nestled in the donut hole. YUM!

After the bakery we went over to Broadway park to play. It was a wonderful sunny morning to play before it got too hot. They have a bunch of fun equipment and the kids had a fun time. We left just as a bus was pulling into the parking lot. A bunch of kids were piling out and running over to the picnic shelter as we were leaving! The same thing happened at the bakery - a class of kids walked over to the bakery for a treat so it was pretty busy when we were there. We only waited a few minutes for donuts - no big deal. Spring is definitely field trip season!

Typical Legge Day

A bulk of the remainder of the day was spent outside playing baseball, basketball, and other outside games. We had a family picture session scheduled for 4pm that afternoon. A family friend came to take pictures; a whole group shot, grandparents and grandkids, individual families, just the kids, just the adults, etc. The pictures turned out really well and the kids did pretty good considering the ages and all of their personalities and temperaments. Separate post to come!
A lively game of t-ball - so much fun with lots of players!
While the baseball game was happening, Jill got the girls going on a game of London Bridges. They were having a ball taking turns being the bridge and running around. The second picture captured the most smiles.

Molly and Leah (and Maylen) played like two-year-olds. They were either hot or cold, not much in between. It wasn't one of the girls more than the other.

 YESSSSSS.
The boys played pretty well together with some underlying competition between Charlie and Kemper for Drew's attention. They get along well considering just how different they all are.
 Kids table!
