Pumpkin Potch and Seattle Trip

October 7, 2012
Pumpkin Potch (as Charlie calls it :)
Team Kube and Team Rustand hit the pumpkin patch one Sunday for an afternoon of all things fall. We had cool weather and a great time. Corn box, hayride, slide, corn maze, pumpkins and gourds galore, tractors, and a hundred different pretty picture-taking spots. Just another day at Diana's Pumpkin Patch!
Corn box = SO MUCH FUN.

Uh-oh... busted! Don't eat the corn, Alanna!

Looks like the scarecrow is trying to get in on our picture!

At the top of the slide.

A fun (and static-filled) activity!

"Sir, would you take a picture for us?" Apparently I should have asked for his professional photography resume before asking him to take the picture. :( Kurtis is holding Caleb and Karen is holding Abigail.

Let's go get our pumpkins!

They had unshelled peanuts in the front part of this tractor, so we hung out here for a bit and munched.

Little girl, big pumpkin.

What fun!

One last family shot before we headed back home. Kubes came over for soup and chili afterwards to complete our fall day.

Matt and Julie's Anniversary Trip
Seattle, WA
October 10-15, 2012

Grandma came out to watch Charlie and Alanna so Matt and I could take a vacation by ourselves. It was a wonderful time of doing whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted to do it. Coffee at 10:30 at night? Sure! Movie at 9:45pm? Yep! Walking around the city, eating seafood, hiking in Olympic National Park, taking a few ferries, drinking LOTS of coffee... you get it. We had a blast, just the two of us, and I know the kids had a ball with Grandma, too. Win-win! (Or, win-win-win!)

We stopped in Silverdale (on our way to the national park) for coffee and found this great little spot to check out the water.

We had $65 in Starbucks gift cards to use, but we did take the time to try out a few local places, too. This beautiful cup came from Espresso Vivace.

In Silverdale

At Espresso Vivace

Pike Place Market!

The original Starbucks

One more of the original Starbucks

On a ferry to Bainbridge Island. Why? Because we can, that's why. :)

Top of the Columbia Center

The Crab Pot - a super fresh and delicioius seafood feast for two. Silverware optional.

:)

Behind us is the boat that took us on a fun two-hour lunch cruise.

Fancy, right? We had such a great time on this cruise. Definitely something we wouldn't normally take the time to do, but are so glad we did it!

Space Needle. Duh.

Starbucks in Anacortes. We drove north one day just to explore.

Seattle Public Library

Some sunshine on our last day in Seattle! It really makes everything brighter and more vibrant.

One more cup at the original Starbucks.

Puget Sound

GUM WALL!! See mine?! :)

I wanted to get a fancy cupcake before we left the city and found a pumpkin spice cupcake with cardamom frosting. It was beyond yummy.

What a fun, fun trip. Thanks again, Grandma for coming to stay with Charlie and Alanna!

A catch-up post

Colon Orchards
September 28, 2012
We picked apples and walked around the orchard for a bit. Charlie ate the equivalent of two small/medium apples while we were there. Alanna held her own apple and was having a great time licking it. On the drive home, she actually poked through the skin of the apple and started taking tiny bites! Oops! If I would have known that she could do that, I wouldn't have given her the apple yet!

Charlie dropped his apple often, resulting in all kinds of dirt and nasty on the apple. Good thing we could just reach over and pick another one for him to eat!

SO CUTE! Look at her chubby little baby hands on her apple!

She actually did get some flesh out of the apple! It appears as though she ate a lot of it, but it's not as much as it seems.

Air Show and Pancake Breakfast at the Fremont County Airport
September 29, 2012
We went out to the airport for breakfast since we had never been there before. $5 all-you-can-eat pancakes? Sure! Charlie was on an airplane kick and had a ball looking at all the airplanes. Helicopter rides were offered so there were helicopters taking off and landing near constantly while we were there, too. It was a beautiful CO day!

Karen and Julie hit the Zoo :)
October 1, 2012
Taking advantage of my zoo pass where I get to bring a guest each time AND the fact that we went just 2 days before Caleb's birthday (turning 3 means a paid admission ticket for him), we were all able to go to the zoo for the price of one child's admission ($10.25). Not too bad! Karen has this awesome fold-up wagon that she brought with for the kids since we couldn't fit all 4 kids plus two jogging strollers in my van. We had a great time walking around, checking out animals, eating snacks and lunch, and just enjoying the day together. The children were worn out by the end of the day! 3 out of the 4 fell asleep on the way home (all but Abigail). Wonderful outing with my bff!

At the tiger exhibit.

Three buddies watching the otters.

Too funny NOT to share. It was admittedly very bright, and this giant chair was peppered with chicken poop, but we did the best we could with what we had to work with. :)

Bathtime Fun
Sweet little peanut!

Her expression is so funny!

Sweet smiling fella.

October 5, 2012
Charlie was building a fort under the desk while I taught a piano and voice lesson. He pulled blankets and pillows from his bedroom and set up shop under the desk. He was having so much fun!

These two are either telling secrets, or Charlie's giving Alanna a kiss. Probably the latter.

:)

I think that Charlie was explaining the fort to Alanna in this picture. "And this is how I built this part... and here's another fine feature of this fort..."

October 6, 2012
Clapping in the bathtub for the first time! Alanna is 11 months old here, beating her brother's clapping record of close to 17 months. I love the sparkle in her eyes!

Just another day, clapping in the bathtub.

She also does "Where's Alanna?"

Back-(b)logged

Get ready for some serious catching up!! Thanks to Jill, I figured out how to get more space without purchasing more storage space from Google. (Thanks, sis!) Anyway, I have 3 months of life to put on the blog; fall pictures and activities, our anniversary trip to Seattle, Alanna's first birthday, Christmas, etc. Here it comes!

Car Wash

The kids and I were driving around looking at Christmas lights tonight (12/13/12), and when we drove past a car wash, Charlie said, "Car shower!" Hahahaha!!! It was so funny! Just callin' it like he sees it!
