Easter Eggs

4-1-13
Well, we didn't get Easter eggs dyed before Easter, but we DID get it done! Better late than never, right? Charlie had fun and would have played around with the eggs in the water for a lot longer than we let him. I thought it was HILARIOUS that one of the pages of the newspaper was advertising The Bible (the tv mini-serious on a cable channel). Here's a huge picture of a person portraying Jesus while we're doing something that's completely irrelevant to the actual meaning of Easter. :) It's almost as if Jesus joined us at the table! Boy, wouldn't that be something? I hardly think we would waste time with Jesus dying eggs.
Anyway, enjoy the pictures!

Happy Easter!

Easter 2013
Charlie and Alanna opened their Easter gifts from G&G Rustand on Saturday night. (They felt squishy, and if they received Easter clothes, I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to wear them!) As far as Easter Sunday went, we attended 8:30 church and stayed after for a breakfast burrito fundraiser put on by the youth. Right after we got home, I attempted to do a few pictures. You can see just how well that worked out. :/ We got one shot as a family before I called it quits out of pure frustration.
C & A received chocolate bunnies from neighbor Doris, a few things from Edwards', a handful of things from G&G Legge, and a handful more things from us. I guess it makes sense. The kids receive gifts for Jesus' birthday, so why not receive gifts on Jesus' resurrection day? I mean, come on. Can YOU resurrect yourself? Me, neither.
After we all took naps on Sunday afternoon (Matt excluded), we actually ended up over at Paul and Debbie's house for an egg hunt. It was soooo nice out (upper 70's at least)! We had a bit of a rough day as the kids went through what I call "Grandparent detox." We made it though!

Grandpa Grandpa come home couple weeks.

... or so Charlie said for 2+ weeks before Grandma and Grandpa actually came. He was so excited!! Actually, we all were! Mom and Dad arrived on 3-26 and stayed until 3-30, flying into Denver and renting a car for the drive to Canon. They came bearing more birthday gifts for Charlie! Charlie played a game of Candyland with G&G before bed - his first time playing the game. Thanks, Edwards family!
Charlie and Alanna had fun watching videos and looking at pictures on Mom's camera; some of themselves, some of their cousins.
Dad made each of the kids (and himself) a bristle block cell phone and they had a conference call together. Their conversation was hilarious. "Does anyone have anything to add to today's agenda? Hearing nothing, we'll move on to item A." SO FUNNY! I was able to take a super fast pic with everyone holding their phones to their ears. :)
Grandma and Grandpa are always willing to read books to the kids; even if it's the same book for the 15th time that day.
Charlie sports his new sunglasses from G&G.
Alanna holds G&G's hands while walking at the train park.
We took a trip to the General Store up Oak Creek Grade road, heading southish out of town. It's a 16 mile trip to a little restaurant attached to the owner's house... a bit bizarre, but the drive is nice and the food was good. Matt and I have been there before, so we knew what we were getting into. The owners seem to always be up for some 'let's-get-to-know-you' questions and anti-government talk. The yellow fire truck pictures were taken there, too. Why there was an old fire engine on their property, no one knows.
"Grandma, wanna go boing, boing, boing?" (a fun and silly game Grandma was playing with Charlie on the swing)

Play time!

3-24-13
Let's all pile on Daddy! I was hanging on his back but had to get down to take the picture. Just kidding! :) Matt's always up for a game of baseball with the kids. That's a pretty serious batting stance for an indoor game in our smallish living room...

Happy 3rd Birthday, Charlie!!

3-19-13
Happy Birthday to our sweet 3-year-old son! A balance bike from Grandma and Grandpa Rustand, a surprisingly good candid family photo, gifts galore, and birthday cake and ice cream... the makings for a really special 3rd birthday for Charlie!

Semi Truck Birthday Cake

3-18-13
After I asked Charlie to pick out what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday, he talked non-stop about it. He wanted to help make his semi truck birthday cake so bad... but I just wanted to do it myself! I baked the cake, did a rough crumb coat and one color of the frosting before putting the kids to bed and finishing it myself. I appreciate that he was so excited about it; it definitely makes it worth the time and effort.

 Finished product!
