Carrots and What?!

January 18, 2013
Tonight while eating supper, Charlie called his carrots and croutons, 'carrots and coupons'. Haha!

Alanna's last 1-year molar

Alanna's last and final 1-year molar poked through about 10 days ago (1-9-13). It was her bottom left one. She now has all 4 molars, her 4 front top teeth, and 3 front bottom teeth bringing her grand total to 11! I love that toothy grin!

January 2013

1-1-13
Welcome home! These two were snuggled in on my lap and on each other so sweetly that I had to ask Matt to snap a quick picture. These two children melt my heart!

1-3-13 Charlie playing with his laptop, Alanna showing off her pink and black outfit, playing blocks together, and some new wooden magnets for the fridge.

1-5-13 A backpack, a flashlight, and an adventurous little fella. Makes complete sense!
1-6-13 Daddy is always up for reading stories; anytime, anywhere. Today's location of choice: the kitchen floor.

1-7-13 M&M's Activity Book - part snack, part learning, part entertainment. :)

1-11-13 Snuggles with Mommy after nap. LOVE.

1-12-13 New camera! Fish eye. Not my best side. :S I'd like to figure out exactly why that fish eye effect is there... and what kind of pictures to take with it... because this isn't it....
Do you like the 'miniature' setting toy picture?

1-13-13 Playing with the camera. I love that some of the photo options appear as though the pictures have been photo-shopped, when in fact they have not!

1-15-13 Playing around at home. :) Alanna's dominating some pumpkin pecan oatmeal and loving it! Sometimes it's hard for  me to just give in to the mess... but I'm getting plenty of opportunities to work on it! I snapped a fun shot of Alanna's (almost) profile and also got a cute one of Charlie on the piano. What a couple of sweeties!

1-20-13 Harrison Park
Taking advantage of one of Canon's well-known "winter" days (ha!), we spent some time at Harrison park playing around and enjoying the beautiful weather. The kids had a blast! We like that park so much. Apparently, so does half the town - it was a hoppin' place that day! Obviously, we took some fun pictures with the new camera. For a pocket-sized point and shoot camera, we LOVE the fancier capabilities without the extra bulk. Matt's a genious at picking out all things electronic. :)

1-21-13 Family trip to Salida Hot Springs! We have gone over to the hot springs the past few winters and always enjoy it. If it were a bit cheaper, we would probably go more often! We went on MLK day (yay!) for parent/tot swim and it was a busy place. The water is so, so nice, and the zero-depth entry is perfect for kids of all ages. We had fun playing around with the camera a bit, too. Alanna stayed in my arms like this for the first 30 minutes - no joke! - until she got used to the pool. I didn't mind the extra snuggles at all! Charlie jumped right in and loved it. :)

1-22-13 Mommy's shoes and Daddy's hat...

1-23-13 I asked Charlie who his babies were and he called them Charlie and Alanna. :) He had the babies in the correct spots - this is exactly how we roll when we go to the store! Alanna in front, Charlie in the back!
 1-24-13 to 1-27-13
I had the opportunity to travel to Scottsdale, AZ at the end of January with these other beautiful ladies to attend a YoungLives summit. Due to some hairy weather on the way there, we were re-routed to Pocatello, ID (should have been Salt Lake City) for a handful of hours. We made the best of it! It was a fun weekend getaway; super informative, and I came back re-energized.

 On a hike in Scottsdale
On the way home, we actually got stuck in Salt Lake City... again. Uffda! For it being only a 4-day trip, we really ran into some bad weather! We got on the plane, sat there for 2 hours, then got off the plane and made this little snowman right on the tarmack. Our flight went from delayed to delayed longer to no-longer-on-the-board... to magically boarding and us receiving seats even though our tickets were changed to stand-by! A few more hours of sitting on the plane, a quick de-icing, and we were home a few hours later. A 14-hour travel day on the way too Scottsdale and a 17-hour travel day on the way home. Whoa. It was intense!

1-30-13 Alanna's last nighttime bottle. She still gets milk at night, but it's from a sippy cup now. :)

Last Pictures in the Cavour House

Knowing that we wouldn't be back to the Cavour house, I took some pictures in every room of the house just to capture some last memories. A lot of wonderful times and things have happened in that house!

More Winter Fun!

Grandpa and Alanna high-fiving! :) Alanna's sitting in Kemper's new frog chair.

We actually spent a few days at Polejewski's while we were in Fergus. Angie had the whole week off, so we hung out at their house for at least two full days... plus one more if I remember correctly. Playing outside was a fun activity - largely due to the snowmobiles! Charlie got to ride with Daddy for a little bit which I think he thought was both super fun and a little scary. Angie has this great sled with a seat in it so Alanna could ride around and be sitting upright. Not that she can't sit upright on her own, but with all that winter gear PLUS being pulled around, it was nice to have a back rest for her.
Charlie and Matt spent a few hours at Grandpa's fish house one day and had a blast. Alanna and I stayed at Polejewski's for more fun with cousins. And Just Dance 4. :) We played a fun dice game and a Disney game that I was terrible at. I apparently don't know that much about Disney movies and characters anymore!
Lastly, a great shot of Grandma, Grandpa, Charlie and Alanna. :)
