Rolling and the Fair

Molly rolled from her back to her belly today for the first time! She has been so close but just can't get her upper body lifted up - until today! She did it twice and seemed pretty proud of herself. Who wouldn't be?

This week is the Fremont county fair. I put the bug in Matt's ear to enter some bread a few weeks ago, so he actually took the time last night and made fresh whole wheat bread to submit this morning for judging. His bread won first place!! Though we're not sure how many entries were in the whole wheat catergory, he still won a ribbon, $5, and bragging rights. :) Matt also entered Charlie's puppy dog crocheted hat and won second place. What a great first fair experience!

Tooth #2

Molly's second tooth came through yesterday (July 23). It was her bottom left tooth. It will probably be a while before she gets any more, but with how fast time flies, I'm sure I'll be writing another one of these posts before we know it.

Molly discovered her toes a few weeks ago, right between Matt's and my birthdays. She flings them up to her hands, grabs her toes, and rolls side to side. Adorable. The natural progression of developing babies is seriously amazing. She has to discover her toes before learning to sit up so she can work on some ab strength!

Molly started eating oatmeal cereal this week on Monday (July 21) at 24 weeks. She shuddered like crazy that first time!!!! In the few nights since then, she has done a lot better. No more shuddering; and I have been able to get a lot more in her mouth.

Charlie: Mom, what's for free lunch today?
Me: I think it's pizza.
Charlie: Is it peppermint pizza or cheese pizza?

Charlie favorite song these days is Fairest Lord Jesus. He knows most of the words though some words (i.e.cherish) come out like share-ish.

Alanna was swiping her fingers on the computer screen the other day. I informed her that the computer is not a touch screen. She then referred to the screen as a touch scream.

Reckonbridge... or Breckenridge

7-19-14
We took a day trip to Breckenridge last Saturday; or Reckonbridge as Charlie calls it. :) We spent a few hours hiking on Hoosier Pass, complete with a picnic after the hike. When we got to Breckenridge, we did the "ride" (gondola to the highest mountain village) and walked downtown for a bit. After playing in the river for a while, we headed home around 6. It was a much cooler and fun day!!

24 Weeks... and a Tooth!

7-21-14
24 Weeks

Molly's first tooth popped through on Saturday (7/19/14). It is her bottom right one. The bottom left one should be close behind it! In comparison to the other kids, Charlie was 4 1/2 months and Alanna was 5 1/2 months when their first teeth came in.

First Movie in the Theater

7-16-14
I took the kids to Colorado Springs to go to a movie. One of the theaters in town has a summer movie program that shows kids movies (rated G and PG) for only $1 per ticket, adults included. I figured it was a great opportunity to go to the theater without breaking the bank. We brought in our own treats, permissable for the summer movie program. The kids ended up sitting together because Charlie could barely keep the seat down, and poor Alanna was nearly swallowed whole by the chair. She was bent up pretty nicely when I first sat her down - her ankles were up by her earlobes... I quickly changed my plan and stuck both the kids together in the seat. I didn't even think of the seating being a problem! We saw Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, which I believe came out the year before. Molly did really well. She watched little bits of the movie, but I flipped her toward me for half the show. Hello, over-stimulation for a 5-month-old! :/ I fed her and she took a little nap towards the end of the show. Debbie came with us, bringing her 5 kids plus 3 extras, so Logan (who's Charlie's age) rode with us up. The kids and I (minus Logan who rode home with his mom in a crowded car!) stopped at the zoo later that day and got stuck in a torrential downpour. I would have just waited it out for a while, but we got stuck up by the elephants standing under a grass hut with a metal pole and it was lightning really close to us. We booked it down to the gift shop and proceeded to be soaked to the bone by the time we got there. It was an experience! Molly stayed pretty dry since the rain was at her back and she was in the stroller (not the car seat part, just laying in the stroller). I brought Charlie and Alanna's jackets which helped keep them dry, but their shorts, shoes, and jackets were all soaked by the time we got to the car. My jeans were so wet they were slipping down something fierce... what an eventful day!
I would have liked for Alanna's first movie experience to be something that she might actually remember, let alone Molly's experience, but as everyone with multiple children experiences, when the oldest one is ready for something, the little ones do it, too. I.E. Molly's first zoo trip was when she was maybe 4 weeks old. :S

Little Sister!

7-15-14
Just some snapshots of our littlest sister. Rosy cheeks and no pants = hot Colorado summer days.

Happy birthday, Mommy!

7-14-14
Matt brought home a balloon for me - a huge orb of a thing! I've never seen one like it! We, again, had a quiet evening at home. While I turned 32, miss Molly turned 23 weeks.
