Newborn Pictures Preview!! (22 days old)

Hmmm... Bummer.

Ok, so when trying to upload pictures this morning, it gave me some kind of code instead of the picture. Bummer. I'll try again later and hope it's blogspot's fault and not an operator error!

In the meantime, here's a short list of the things we've been up to lately!
- Charlie and I flew to MN for a week (4/20-4/28) to visit lots of family. It was awesome and Charlie traveled really well. I carried him in the sling instead of the whole carseat/stroller travel system. It worked well! I would definitely do it again! (Pictures to come!)
- Matt had another successful spring spotlighting operation while we were away. Yay for his last time working nights!! They actually found a wild-born ferret, too, which was pretty exciting. One of the nights was windy and rainy, but the rest of the week was nice weather.
- Charlie slept for 7 hours a few different nights while we were in MN. He's really gotten good at sleeping for at least a 5-hour stretch every night. He usually goes to bed around 9:30ish and doesn't wake up until around 3am. Sweet!
- I ran a 5k last Saturday in Grand Junction. It was the big finale of the Girls on the Run season and I had fun running with the girls. Since I missed a lot of the season (and when I was there, I was coordinating and coaching the girls!), I didn't train at all for the race but managed to run the entire thing in just under 40 minutes. 13-minute miles isn't something to brag about, but running 3.1 miles 6 weeks after having Charlie definitely is. So this is me tooting my own horn. Toot, toot! :)
- Matt's been working on our lawn a bit to try to make it more grass and less weeds. I think it's a work in progress. At least it's all green! He's doing a great job, considering what he has to work with.
- Charlie is 6 weeks and 3 days old today. I haven't had him weighed in a few weeks and am going to do that on Wednesday. I've already had to put away some outfits that are too small! How did that happen?!
- We have planned a Rustand Family Getaway for May 15-16! We're headed to Denver for the weekend so Matt can run the Colfax Half Marathon in downtown Denver. We also have Rockies tickets and will take in a baseball game on Sunday afternoon. I'm looking forward to a fun weekend away!

Pictures to come shortly!

Ahh... Weekends!

Well, I survived my first day of work since Charlie was born. It was so easy - meetings from 8-11:30 followed by a very "intensive" meeting with the music teachers in the district at Starbucks. (I'm sure you can guess how intensive it really was.) After chatting for a few hours, we called it a day. It was wonderful! The best part of the day was the morning team building exercise - my team won the race and our prize was $5 Starbucks gift cards. Sweet! Paid for my afternoon drink!

Matt's been back in the field this week, which has been really nice for him. He's back outside in the fresh air instead of pushing papers around in his cube! This week is spring spotlighting, so Matt's schedule will be flipped from days to nights. It's always such a messed up time - Matt's sleep schedule suffers and I hate having him drive home from Meeker after working 15 hours. I'll definitely be glad when next week is over and Matt doesn't have to work any more nights! He has gathered quite a few volunteers and is hoping for good weather. We'll see!

Charlie is doing really well and I think we've started to get into a groove. I don't want to use the word "schedule," but he's practically getting to that point. It's wonderful! Last night, Charlie only got up one time between 9:45-6:45. Sweet! I weighed him last Wednesday at the hospital and he weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces, meaning that he's up 1 pound from his birth weight! I still think he looks little (he is a newborn!), but somehow a few of his onesies are getting too short in the torso. Time sure is going fast, just like everyone said it would!

In other news, we still haven't sold the house and we don't know for sure when we're moving. Things are still up in the air and we're waiting for them to fall into place. Still playing the waiting game!

I know the text-only posts are super boring, so I'll try to post more pictures next time!

Help?

Um, I can't figure out how to adjust the main picture. Every time I upload a picture, it blows it up so it's jumbo sized. I checked the box "shrink to fit" and everything, and it still doesn't work. The last one I did came out to be a close-up of my nose. :( At least this one is Charlie's cute little chin... I've tried and tried but can't figure it out. Any tips?

More of Charlie's 2nd Week and Beyond!

I can't believe Charlie is already 3 1/2 weeks old! We've been doing really well and are loving having Charlie in our lives. He's so fun! I'm actually headed back to work (just for one day!) on Friday, so Matt will get to be a stay-at-home daddy for the day. It should be a good time for my guys!

Easter Sunday - Charlie is 2 weeks and 2 days old.
3 generations of Rustand men!

Grandma and Charlie having some snuggle time.

Grandpa getting some snuggle time of his own with his newest grandson!
Matt, Mark and Jean played a lot of cards - always a great way to talk and keep your hands busy at the same time. Many good conversations have been had over a hand of cards! I joined them when I could.
Our sleepy little lovebug posing for his 2 week picture. I stinkin' LOVE this sailboat outfit!
Charlie was awake so we took 2 rounds of 2 week pictures. Notice the outfit change? It happens a lot!

My favorite thing about this picture is the look on Matt's face. He's so proud of his little boy! And Charlie's just gazing up at Matt like he's the best daddy in the world. And he is. :)

Completely unrelated, but my diploma for my masters came in the mail while Mark and Jean were here! I was so excited! I graduated last December but am just receiving my diploma now. Love it!

Boy, I look pasty in this picture. But we hardly have any of the three of us together, so I posted it.

Pics from our second week with Charlie!

Mom and I picked out the fabric for Charlie's quilt, but Mom did all the work sewing and quilting it together. It's BEAUTIFUL! I love it! It's exactly what I wanted for our little baby Charlie!
LOVE this little sailboat outfit! :)

Proud Grandma and Grandpa!

Grandparents Week!

This week has been busy - Charlie's been meeting both sets of grandparents! My mom and dad came out on Saturday and stayed until Wednesday, and Matt's parents arrive today (Thursday) and will stay until Sunday. Know what that means for Charlie? Lots more people to kiss and hug him! Our little guy is such a good baby. I still get a little nervous for the nights (why, I'm not sure!), but he is such a good sleeper that he just wakes up to eat and goes right back to sleep. It's been awesome! One time while my parents were here, he was awake for a while in the night, but Grandma stayed up with him for a while so we could get some rest. It was so nice having my parents here! I'll post pictures early next week when things quiet down a bit. Better go - Charlie needs me!
