Random

Matt's about to take a dip in the mighty Arkansas River. The water temp was decent so he took the plunge! This new play wave and surrounding rock seating is new this summer and is a constant source of entertainment - either watching or participating! It's a great spot, and when we lived closer to the river, we walked there frequently.
Watching Daddy go swimming... from a safe distance on the rocks where it's warm and dry. :)
Matt gave Charlie a taste of the Arkansas and about .3 seconds after this picture was taken, Charlie started crying. The water felt ok to us, but it wasn't nearly as warm as Charlie likes it. Well, we tried.
My boys in the river.

Another picture of Charlie. Can you tell we like, um, LOVE him a lot? :) He keeps hats on his head - for now, anyway. Doesn't he look handsome?
Bath time!! :) I'm not sure who gets more wet... Charlie or the one giving him a bath. He enjoys splashing around in the tub, so it's worth it!

(Why does blogger do this sometimes? Am I the only one it happens to? Grr.)
The traditional picture of putting together the crib. Matt did the whole thing with this rinky-dink little tool, poor guy.

Few Firsts

FIRST TEETH. Holy cow. Charlie sprouted these two teeth like nobody's business. One day he was all gums, and the next day he had teeth. TEETH. Plural. Guess he wanted to show off and get two at a time! I'm not sure if you can click on the picture to blow it up or not, but hopefully you can see them! This was taken about 4-5 days after we discovered them.
We hiked to Waterdog Lakes one day a few weeks ago. Charlie and I played while Daddy fished. Check out all of our gear just for one dayhike. Whoa. I really think the pink umbrella puts us over the top. Have I told you that I'm borderline paranoid about Charlie getting sunburned? I'll be so anxious when we can put sunscreen on him. If Charlie reacts to being sunburned like his daddy... well, I'd rather not find out.

First time eating in his new chair! He looks like such a little peanut in there!

Charlie's exploring his new bed - we FINALLY got his crib set up, about a week before he turned 5 months. We just thought it would move better if it was in pieces, and I think we were right. It made it without any scratches or dents! It's so nice to have it up!

Can't get enough of this quilt.

The morning after his first night in the crib! All smiles! It was a great night and he made the transition from the pack n play to his crib with ease. About 98% of the time, Charlie wakes up smiling - mornings, naps, etc, he wakes up happy. I love that.

Charlie in his big highchair! He's really been into patting things lately (almost anything within reach) and was patting on his tray before getting his cereal. Maybe it's a demand for the food?

I guess he was getting desperate for that mixed grain cereal... Mmmm. Fiberous.

Playin' on the floor with Mommy. You know. What we do best!

Charlie does really well in his carseat - well, most of the time. He LOVES that ducky carseat toy and pulls/eats those ducky feet wherever we go. It's hilarious. All Matt and I hear in the front seat is the clicking sound of him pulling on that ducky! Whatever keeps him happy in there!

just a little cuteness

Buena Vista Camping Trip

Aug. 21-22 we went for a quick camping trip. What was supposed to be a three-day, two-night adventure turned out to be a quick overnight in the woods. Can't complain, though. Any time we get to spend in our tent is a great time!
Snuggling with Daddy next to the campfire. He was mesmerized. Fires do that, don't they?
Staying warm and hanging out at the campsite. Ahhh... fresh mountain air!
Turns out the back of the Escape worked really well for a play area for Charlie. When he was on his tummy he could see what was going on! Love his handsome face here!
"Wanna see my tongue?" :) (Or is he mad at Mommy for making him wear this much-too-big sun hat?)
It's early. Can you tell? We all slept so well in the tent. Sometimes it's tempting to set it up in the backyard just so we can sleep that good at home!

Just havin' a little fun!

Charlie Rolls!

We're back...

...in business!! And boy do we have some catching up to do!!! We went camping last weekend west of Buena Vista and had a great time. Charlie did well and liked watching the campfire. Mesmerizing! He has two teeth now (poked through at the same time when Charlie was 4.5 months) and rolls both ways. Back to tummy is really easy for him, but he still struggles a bit with tummy to back. He can do it, but forgets in the moment that he can. So fun!! He eats rice, oatmeal, and multi-grain cereals now, but still loves his mommy milk. Since I'm doing this one-handed, I'm going to quit for now, but expect LOTS of pictures coming soon!!

There and Back Again

Well, we made the annual summer trip to MN last week! We all had so much fun, even though Charlie's face says otherwise. :) I'll have to post more pictures next week after we get settled into our new town. That's right, this week is moving week!! I'm picking up Mom and Dad from the airport tonight and they will be spending the week with us, helping pack, move, and of course, watch Baby Charlie! Next time I post, it will be from beautiful Canon City, CO!
