Redwoods Farewell Tour - Day 2 Part 2

3-4-16
What's next after spending time in the trees? A stop at the coast, of course! We went to the beach off the Enderts Beach road (Crescent beach? South beach?), a spot we hadn't been before. The clouds were low and gray but it wasn't raining or anything. It wasn't warm enough to run barefoot in the water though the kids did ask. We spent a while walking on the beach and playing in the sand. Charlie, Alanna, and Molly found a tree washed up on the beach that was great for climbing. Well, Molly just tried to climb. :) We didn't find much for treasures on the beach, but we did managed to find three whole sand dollars within the last 10-15 minutes of our time there. They are so hard to find! Broken pieces and halves of sand dollars, yes, but not whole ones. We pocketed our treasures and decided to make one last stop at Stout Grove before heading home. We kept waiting for the rain to come which would have chased us home a lot sooner, but the rain kept holding off so we kept playing! It was such a full, fun day. We topped it off with a walk through a very favorite of ours, Stout Grove. About 6pm, when the daylight was starting to fade, we piled into the car and headed for home. I am so very glad we had the opportunity to get down to the Redwoods for one last visit. It is truly a beautiful place and we still could explore so much more there. I'm already looking forward to going back again sometime though who knows when that will actually be. We had made a lot of fun family memories in the Redwoods!!!

Molly's hair looked so beautiful and really bright red in the light at the beach. Matt was trying to capture it in pictures.

Yes, elk. We saw more elk in Oregon than we (I, really) did in four years in Colorado. Strange, but true. I wonder if these elk know how privileged their life is - eating grass and hanging out by the beach.

Our four kiddos on the trail in Stout Grove. Magical.

...and a banana slug.

Alanna and Molly look itty bitty compared to the redwoods.
