October 24-29
What happens when you invite your friends (who happen to be related to you) to drive a dozen hours from their home to yours for a visit? They actually come and you have a HECK of a good time together!! :) :) Nathan, Amanda, Jeremiah, Benjamin, Laura, and Rebekah loaded their van and made the trek from San Antonio to come and spend a long weekend with us in the great state of Colorado. Boy, did we have a fun time together!! We played, we chatted, we drank coffee (so much coffee!), we explored, we drove, we spent time outside, we laughed and we just loved having them here. I am SO glad that Nate and Amanda took the time to come because we enjoyed their visit so much!
Team Davis arrived on Wednesday night around 9pm so the next day was spent together mostly around the house. Charlie and Alanna had school, and due to Charlie missing a bit because of his nose injury, I actually did send the kids to school. The rest of us ventured out to Tunnel Drive later in the afternoon and played at the MVCKS playground after school for an hour. It was a beautiful fall day! Of course, in my excitement, I forgot to take pictures of the day.
On Friday, we packed a lunch and headed up to Hoosier Pass/Breckenridge. We spent an hour or two hiking up the road and playing in the snow. We weren't wearing snow gear and there were some wet feet after our hike! Alas, it was fun to be up high in the mountains. That altitude, though. Jeremiah and Nathan were definitely feeling it! We drove down to Breckenridge and walked downtown a bit before heading home for a late supper of pancakes and smoothies.
Nathan and Bekah tackling the mountainside! I think more of our group is further up the road, too.
Oh my word - these two! So cute!
Matt was checking out a potential Christmas tree. Ha! Benjamin and Charlie were taking a break from the snow and went off-roading up the hill.
The girls - Bekah, Hattie, Molly, Laura, and Alanna. Yes, I believe Laura is wearing cowboy boots like a true Texan.
The fall sky was looking like a winter sky that day and it was really, really pretty!
Even in black and white it's still beautiful!
I gave Hattie a lift down the mountain after a while. Her little legs were wearing out.
Molly's toes were pretty cold after our hike. Her flimsy canvas shoes made it into the van before I realized what kind of footwear she had on for the day. My fault completely.
