8-21
Alanna's first day was Monday, August 21st. Her kindergarten class is 26 kids so they got split into four small groups for their soft start. One group went on 8/16, one on 8/17, one on 8/21 and the last one on 8/22, and then ALL of the kids came together for Wednesday and Thursday of the first full week. It was a lot to keep track of in the beginning but I love how it all went down. Charlie and Alanna each got their own first day so we could really focus on each child making it special for each of them. In kindergarten, every small group went to school for a whole day just by themselves to learn classroom routines and settle in. Alanna was SOOOO excited to go! 8/21 was also Charlie's first day with his whole class in attendance so he was equally as excited to get to school. Naturally, I took some pictures of our two school aged kiddos together! It's so weird! How do we have two kids in school??!

Alanna Faye's First Day of Kindergarten
Teacher: Mrs. Jarvis
Alanna's class for the day. My friend Vicki's daughter Alex (the one pictured from Alanna's nesting day) is in the pink shirt. I hope and pray that Alex and Alanna will be good friends! Well, it's a small single-track school - they will have to be good friends. :) Mrs. Jarvis is jumping right in and giving instructions on what to do when they get into the classroom; green folders in one basket and morning snack in the other. She is super organized and an excellent teacher so I know Alanna will have a great year!
Settling in at her desk with a nametag and some welcome work.
I loved the soft start for kindergarteners. Think of walking into this classroom with 25 other kids for the first time where no one knows anything and parents are trying to take pictures and stuff... chaos. 5 or 6 kids is super manageable. Alanna came home tired but still so excited about school. See that little tree house in their classroom? And she has her own backpack/jacket hook and lunchbox cubby and there's a little kitchen area in her classroom and lots of other fun centers.... yep. Kindergarten is her jam. :)
