Crested Butte, CO

8-13
We squeezed in one last camping trip before school started and headed to Crested Butte. We have been through Gunnison several times but never to Crested Butte, a mere 25 miles north of Gunnison. It is beautiful up there! I feel like it's a bit off the beaten path and therefore a bit quieter than some of the major ski towns in CO. Admittedly, I went with a rather bad attitude but came home with renewed joy. :)
Our campsite at Lake Irwin
Because how can you stay grumpy when this is your view?! Oh, and the mountains are pretty, too.

We left early enough on Friday morning to get to Crested Butte by early afternoon. We set up the camper and then went exploring around the lake. It's SO beautiful!

And I took this gem while we were there which is pretty much my new favorite picture of our spawn. FOR REALS, KIDS. How and why are you all this adorable!?!
Speaking of adorable, my handsome leader is building a fire for dinner.
With a little help from Alanna Faye, of course!!
Enjoying a hot dog, grapes, and SunChips for a super-easy camping dinner. We had forgotten about the beauty and ease of a roasted hot dog for dinner, probably because up until not that long ago, hot dogs weren't the best option for ALL of us. Now? Game on.

Our after-dinner activity: fishing!!
